The Native Dancer series led directly to these sculptural beaded birds. I felt there should be some way to add another dimension to the bead work. So instead of the actual feathers, I imagined the beads replacing them and with the clever use of a simple sewing pin, I was able to make these feathers dimensional.

While beading my flock of birds it occurred to me that this would also lend itself to other animals as well. Thanks to all of my animal-loving friends, this latest work will be the beginning of a whole new series.
